Built for real-world command training
Everything an instructor needs to put crews in the hot seat, without leaving the station.
Live, multi-user drills
Every participant plays a role from their own computer. Their radio traffic, requests and decisions drive the incident, so conditions change as crews size up, assign and communicate.
Scene media
Show photos and video of fire and smoke conditions so crews read the scene the way they would on arrival.
Real-time feedback
Each participant works their own board and responds to the IC as it happens, so commanders hear immediately whether their orders landed and instructors see how every role is tracking the incident.
Multi-agency and private
Fire, EMS, law enforcement and emergency management train together, while each agency's data stays private. Secure sign-in with emailed invite links.
Highly dynamic · Multi-user
Every role pushes back. Every drill is different.
Real incidents aren't scripted, and neither is CommandDrill. Multiple participants sign in from their own computers and fill the roles that surround a real command post. Each one injects stimulus (radio traffic, changing conditions, resource requests, curveballs) and gives the incident commander, and each other, real-time feedback. The IC has to listen, prioritize and adapt as the incident moves.
Incident Commander
Sizes up, assigns, tracks resources, and manages everything coming in at once.
Division / Group Supervisors
Report progress and conditions, ask for help, and flag when assignments aren't working.
Safety
Calls out hazards and pushes back on risky tactics.
Dispatch
Relays radio traffic, additional calls and updates from outside the scene.
Arriving Companies
Check in, request assignments, and report what they find.
EMS
Drives patient counts, triage, transport and rehab needs.
Police
Handles perimeter, traffic and scene security, and brings law enforcement priorities.
Emergency Management
Raises resource, evacuation and coordination issues beyond the scene.
Exercise Controller / Evaluator
Steers the scenario, drops in curveballs, and evaluates command decisions.
For fire, EMS, police and emergency management, training together or on their own.
How a drill works
Three steps from the training room to the command post.
Instructor sets the scene
Pick or build a scenario, load scene media, and start the drill.
Players take their roles
Participants sign in from their own computers and pick up an assigned role, or a crew follows along on a TV connected to a computer.
Command, adapt, debrief
Roles inject stimulus and push back, the IC adapts, and the group reviews the drill together.
Built by a firefighter
From the fire service, for responders
CommandDrill is built by a fire service member in Ohio and is currently in pilot with a fire department in Ohio. The pilot is private, and we're shaping the tool around feedback from the people who use it.
